Ben Aslak over a misty Broadford Bay. May 2008.

Date: Saturday 31st May 2008
Distance: 5km
Ascent: 340m

Saturday – transferring from Ardnamurchan to Torridon. Weather staying fair. We had booked a ferry Mallaig to Armadale (hadn’t been over the sea to Skye since forgotten childhood). The ferry gives interesting views to Knoydart and the Cuillin.

We needed a short walk before shopping and driving up to Torridon, so picked out Ben Aslak – one of the 3 Grahams at Kylerhea. Broadford was covered in cloud but drove out of this on the road to Kylerhea. Parked at the Bealach Udal (near the transmitter). Simple walk uphill, to the bealach with Beinn Bheag then up to Ben Aslak.

Nice view to Glenelg:

Rather attractive low-level cloud bathed Broadford Bay and the sea off N Skye and reached towards the Cuillin.

Great summit views all round – another wee gem for a short walk – about 50min up from the car.
