Sgurr na Dubh-chreige. June 2011.

Date: Friday 10th June 2011
Distance: 3km
Ascent: 190m

Friday morning and time to pack up and leave the excellent Knoydart House

Sad to go – had been a great week. Despite a poor forecast for the Friday things were pretty nice. Roinn na Beinn and the Knoydart S2K looked great:

We’d planned to hop on the ferry to Rum but we’d remembered the time wrong – by the time we’d finished saying tarra to the SHills crew we had 10 minutes left to pack for a wild-camp – didn’t feel confident so changed plans.

Did a bit of exploring of the Loch Morar and Arisaig area plus one wee hill – Sgurr na Dubh-chreige.

The name isn’t even on the 1:50000 OS map.

Parked at the jetty at NM 697 932 – the track runs up to a house – the path continues to the right of the house. Followed the track about 800m north then cut uphill west to climb the wee bump.

Expanding views of the islands on Loch Morar.

The summit took about 30 minutes all told – a rather nice viewpoint:

From there simply reversed route to the car.

A spare hour filler – well worth the climb.

Took a wander to Arisaig in the afternoon.
