Mull Pick and Mix part 2. Ben Buie. June 2012.

Date: Wed 6th June 2012
Distance: 7.1km
Ascent: 625m

A reasonable night in the tent – although the sheep were making a racket mumping about the midge in the hour after sunset and the hours around sunrise. This left a 4hour quiet window for sleep. πŸ™„

Tent at Dhiseig:

A litre of cocoa and a few cereal bars before striking the pitch and offski. The flat grass in this area attracts a few tents and camper vans. As we drove off we noted that the Heelan Coo herd had been unleashed. Not the best companions for a camper. 😯

Drove round to park at NM 616 303 to ascend Ben Buie.

Again we simply ascended the hill and enjoyed, prior to reversing route. Uninspired route design but quite relaxing.

Loch Sguabain and Sgurr Dearg:

The terrain up the hill varied from grassy to scrub to stony but the entie walk was fairly β€œhands in pockets”.

Ben More from Cnap an Gobhar:

The summit is in essence a triple top, with the highest point at the S end.

Cnap nan Gobhar from summit:

Some great views down to Loch Buie from the summit.

Loch Buie from summit:

Our views south to Jura and Scarba were blunted by a fair amount of cloud. Better views to the Mull hills.

Beinn Talaidh:

Reversed route for the return.

Ben More and Glen More:

Cruach Choireadail from descent:

Glen More road:

Back at the car after a little under 4 hours and then off to ascend Beinn Talaidh.
