More Glen Clova doing nothing. January 2015.

Date: Saturday 24th January 2015
Distance: 10km
Ascent: 650m

Pretty much a fact-finding trip. Wanted to have a look at the track running up from the Glen Doll car park to Red Craig and Cairn Derg. We’d seen the track emerging from the forestry while on Cairn Broadlands.

Not too much to say about the route – took the track from the road at NO 287 759 and followed it uphill.
At about NO 290 764 a path heads on uphill to the forest edge.

From there up to the transmitter on Red Craig and up to Cairn Derg.

Lots of siskins around. Watched a pair of crossbills at the top of the forest. The female was gathering moss/grass while the male sung. Seems early for nest-building.

A nice ascent route – like Cairn Broadlands another quick ascent to the sun and views.
